Overview

Loali is a very flexible pivot with a fantastic defensive typing and impressive special bulk. It has moveset options to take on either a more supportive role or to serve as an offensive tank, which is assisted by its well-rounded stats. Its Botanist trait increases Loali’s offensive pressure while the Toxic Farewell trait allows it to punish foes who dispose of it.

Description

Loali makes use of its high base speed and consistent coverage of both of its types to make for a very effective offensive threat. The Nature/Wind typing is great both offensively and defensively, being able to cover one of its 2 weaknesses with super-effective attacks, and having resistances to several strong offensive types. Loali makes a great coverage Tem on many types of teams, simply doing its job effectively and little else.

Plague is Loali's consistent priority access and nature coverage. With the damage boost from Botanist, it does far more respetcable dammage than other Plague users, and Loali's speed allows the exhaust to get good value too. Hypoxia is consistent and high-power wind coverage, at the cost of very high stamina. Resin Trap is Loali's highest damaging move (thanks again to Botanist) and also offers some bonus utility with its trap. The final moveslot can be flexible, but my preferred pick is Gust - despite its low power compared to its stamina cost, it gives Loali a wind-type priority attack which can be very useful and potentially game-winning. Although not a requirement to even have available, Gust is exceptional with synergy, hitting before swaps occur to snipe K.O.s and preventing potential swaps out. Importantly, you can still swap an electric ally in to use Gust's ultra priority, just make sure your partner is switching out faster than the opponent you want to hit. Other options in the fourth slot include Refresh and Turbo Choreography.

Whilst Loali has no particularly synergy requirements, it does appreciate Gust synergy if possible. Some of the best Electric Tems in the game, Golzy and Minothor, equally appreciate Loali's presence for Hasty Lunge synergy. Loali trades reasonably well into most Toxic Tems since it will outspeed them and hit their usually lower Spdef, however it cannot pivot into them well, and those that are not weak to Wind are a big problem for it. Loali's low def stat also makes it very frail into any physical attackers, however Strange Vest can invert this. Strange Vest can allow Loali to trade very effectively with many physical attackers which it would usually struggle with, even at low bulk investment. A large amount of the special attackers which can hit your now quite low special defense are either weak to Loali or unable to hit it effectively

56 TVs in stamina with allows for any 3 consecutive moves without over-exerting. The speed investment outspeeds max speed Chromeon/Koish/Nessla, an important breakpoint for frail offensive tems. Spatk is maxed out, and leftovers are in HP. HP can be dropped for more speed creep if desired, or speed dropped for more bulk on slower paced teams who value the breakpoint less.

Description

(1.3 DUKE'S NOTES - THIS TEM GOT BACKHANDED THIS PATCH - I MEAN LIKE SLAPPED, THE TRAIT KINDA SUCKS TO BE HONEST. ALLERGIC SPREAD IS A NICE TOOL TO HAVE OVER GUST, WHICH GOT NERFED PRETTY HARD. )

Loali has a great defensive typing that only really struggles into fire tems, while it has an on-paper weakness to toxics, they do not like taking big damage from Loali's wind techniques. Combined with Bait to stop Poison from hindering it, Loali is well-positioned in the post-0.9.4 meta, including 1.0.

Hypoxia and Resin Trap are the heavy-hitting attacks, while Plague and Gust help Loali move with speed and provide utility. Turbo Choreography can be run in a supportive role over Gust if you want an extra turbo user, but Loali prefers being the synergy partner rather than the turbo clicker.

Golzy is a uniquely good partner for Loali, as it provides it with Gust Synergy while also gaining the ability to Hasty Lunge without expending its Adrenaline Shot. Sparks and Turbo users are great partners for Loali as well.
